“When I was asked to curate a program for this concert, Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite sprang immediately to mind. It’s a piece bursting with joy, beauty and uplifting energy, so I thought it would be wonderful to play with my close friends and colleagues of the CAMERATA BERN.
I very much wanted to include Curtain Tune by Matthew Locke: taken from incidental music for a Shakespeare play, it depicts a calm sea that turns into a tempestuous storm in only a matter of seconds.
After these and other musical stops in Scandinavia and England, we look forward to exploring the world of the Croatian composer Milko Kelemen, with his unique Concertante Improvisations.”
